Come along with us in the famous San Lorenzo Market of Florence, and let Tuscan flavors flow through your senses! In this food tour you’ll get to taste some of the most typical products of the area while hearing about their history and curiosities in the company of a local food expert.
We’ll start in an elegant and historical coffee bar, the “Caffè Scudieri”, where we’ll take a coffee in the italian way, “al banco”, and you’ll get to know some curiosities about the Italian breakfast.
Then we’ll head towards the central market with a brief stop to taste some products made with truffles or “Tartufo” in Italian. This may be a very interesting experience, especially for those who have never tasted this flavor before. That will be accompanied by an explanation and curious facts from our guide.
Once in the Central Market, we’ll continue the tasting with the main local cheeses and salami. Florence is known for its excellent charcuterie, so we’re sure you’ll really enjoy this moment. In these stops, you’ll also meet local farmers and butchers who will gladly introduce you to their products. Besides, you’ll also get to taste other local and ecological products with a high rename, like olive oil, local sauces and other delicacies such as balsamic vinegar aged 30 years.
Then, we’ll head over to another tasting, in which you’ll be able to try different local wines, including sweet dessert wine, accompanied with tuscan biscuits: the “cantucci”, and some other typical sweets depending on the season we’re at the moment of the tour. It can be panettone, schiaccia con l’uva, or other options.
Finally, we’ll leave the market to indulge our senses in a delicious artisan gelateria. Here you’ll finish the tasting with a gelato of your choice, while getting to know the crucial role Florence has played in gelato history.
